Trauma/Tension Release Exercise is a therapeutical methodology that taps into the body’s natural healing ability by re-establishing its primitive reflex which allows the discharge of tension in the muscles and tissues due to traumas, stress or injuries. It does that by guiding the body into involuntary tremors which are initially triggered by a set of 7 exercises.
The person who developed TRE about 20 years ago is Dr David Berceli who worked in war zones all over the world, especially in the Middle-East where he observed and helped people going through extreme traumatic events and constantly fearing for their lives. He was also familiar with Dr. Peter A. Levine’s discovery over 35 years ago about how animals in the wild recover from trauma by tremoring spams of their body, releasing excess of adrenalin and cortisol that otherwise would remain trapped in the muscles and tissues. Berceli also observed as the psoas muscle plays an important role in body tremoring- people facing a life threatening situation, like bombing, often curl up contracting the psoas and the front line of fascia in order to protect their vital organs. This is a natural reflex and not a decision. The exercises are designed to safely activate a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system and eventually encouraging the body to return back to a state of balance.
I offer individual TRE sessions.
Each session can last up to 1 hour and 30 minutes and will involve me guiding you through a series of simple exercises designed to safely activate the therapeutic neurogenic tremors reflex which is innate to all mammals.
“The therapeutic muscle tremors evoked by the TRE exercise process is a natural, internal, neuro-physiological response of the body to reduce its own stress and restore a sense of well-being.” - quote from https://traumaprevention.com/what-is-tre/
